- A little about me
- First-generation Italian American who holds a Master's Degree and graduated from UCLA. I married a non-San Pedran, but opted to settle in San Pedro to raise my family. My father is a retired longshoreman and my husband is currently a longshoreman. We own a home in northwest San Pedro. I have 3 children, 2 of which have graduated from Mary Star HS. Both are in college and living out of town. I work for LAUSD, but have never enrolled my own kids in an LAUSD school. Not good enough for me, to tell the truth.

- I hate that we have become the capital of all the sober-living and recovery/group/halfway homes in Southern California. If it weren't for the people I grew up with and my family which in my estimation give it that "small town" feeling, I would move. But those that I know who have left San Pedro really miss it. I guess the grass always looker greener on the other side. That said, I am still glad that I decided to raise my children here, but here is my secret...I am going to make sure my grandchildren ARE NOT raised in San Pedro. It just isn't the same; crime, bad schools, homeless population, and egocentric local politicians that perpetuate the cronyism and nepotism I despise. Not sure it is better elsewhere, but it is time for a change for my family.
