How did you hear of the assassination of Osama Bin Laden?

How did you hear of the assassination of Osama Bin Laden?

I experienced the news via Twitter!

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer tweeted just after 9:45 p.m., "POTUS to address the nation tonight at 10:30 PM Eastern Time."

10:30 p.m. on Sunday night? I feared that it could be one of those "there is an astroid headed for Earth" kind of press conferences.

I turned on CNN to hear Wolf…

Honorary Mayor of San Pedro candidate Joe Buscaino talks about fundraising and Dodgers.

I've known Joe Buscaino since we were both children. I remember photographing his childhood home every year for the Daily Breeze at Christmas time because his dad always went above and beyond with the lights and decorations. I remember celebrating with him in the yellow seats at Dodger Stadium during the 1988 World Series when Kirk Gibson hit a home run in the 9th…

As many know, there are five local citizens that are vying for the Honorary Mayor of San Pedro position, a bi-annual event sponsored by the… Continue

SOMETHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN: WELCOME BACK SAN PEDRO NEWS PILOT

In the summer of 1994, as a journalism student and wannabe photographer at El Camino College in Torrance, I made a photograph that was published on the front page of the local newspaper.

The photo was of the 10-foot statue of Mary which is mounted on top of the Mary Star of the Sea tower, her arms outstretched toward the Port of Los Angeles.

A gift from the parish fisherman in 1961, the statue was brought down to earth for restoration, making it available to view up close for… Continue
