Janice Hahn opens Congressional District Office in San Pedro

Last week Congresswoman Janice Hahn opened her new congressional district office in San Pedro. Several hundred people attended the opening at 140 West 6th Street. San Pedro Fire on December 6, 2011

Los Angeles City Firefighters put out a fire at a Single family home on 2nd St. and Hanford in San Pedro, Ca. According to Chief Chris Logan, one person and three pets were in the home when the call came in at 9:19pm on Dec. 6, 2011. The fire was extinguished in thirty-four minutes and nobody was injured.

Paseo Del Mar in San Pedro as we know it is forever gone

Following the detachement of 600 feet of Paseo Del Mar in San Pedro on Sunday, November 20,  City of Los Angeles engineers assessed Monday morning. A geological survey will begin immediately and last six month.

Don't expect for this issue to be resolved anytime soon. It looks like the timeline could be many years.

Los Angeles City and County officials visit San Pedro landslide at Paseo Del Mar

 

Los Angeles City and County officials including Supervisor Don Knabe, LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich and LA City Council candidate Joe Buscaino visited the Paseo Del Mar landslide in San Pedro Wednesday morning and were briefed by Mark Pestrella, Assistant Director of Public Works and Hector J. Bordas, Area Engineer for the Flood Maintenance Division of Public Works.

San Pedro has many roots in the small island village of Komiza, Croatia

The small island village of Komiza, Croatia played a big role in the population of San Pedro starting in the 1920's. San Pedro and Komiza are so connected that San Pedro is mentioned in the first few sentences in Komiza's Wikipedia page. While there are currently about 500 permanent residents in Komiza, approximately 5000 residents of San Pedro have roots in Komiza!

Traffic, long lines and excited visitors greet the USS Abraham Lincoln as it visits the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro.

San Pedro looked like Disneyland or Magic Mountain on Wednesday and Thursday as traffic filled up the Harbor freeway and Harbor Blvd., as thousands of visitors waited in upwards of three to four hours board and tour the USS Abraham Lincoln.

First Thursday Art Walk and Food Truck Revolution in San Pedro, California

San Pedro's First Thursday Art Walk on June 2, 2011 featured for the first time popular food trucks that brought with them many food fans to downtown. The Grilled Cheese Truck had the longest line where people waited up to thirty minutes to get their sandwich. The Lobster Truck got the best reviews. Also featured were the Nom Nom Truck and Me So Hungry Truck. Most people said they would love to see the trucks back every First Thursday.
