Curmudgeon Corner - Kate pregnant with Twins - Maybe!

The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant.  England’s most loved couple is with child.  Prince William and Kate Middleton, the couple that saved the monarchy of England, will now provide an heir to the British throne.

The English are wildly excited, the world is ecstatic.

And here is a wrinkle in the good news: possible twins.  Kate is in the hospital with a rare form of morning sickness, Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).  As stated in Wikipedia, HG is severe form of morning sickness that includes debilitating nausea and vomiting which leads to weight loss and dehydration.  It is thought that less than 2% of pregnant women are afflicted with this severe form of morning sickness.

Here is the wrinkle.  This severe form of morning sickness is associated with women who are pregnant with girls, and many times with twins.  Yes, twins.  HG is thought to be caused by increased levels of HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) which is consistent with multiple births, i.e. twins. Kate could be having twin girls.

Prince William is second-in-line to the British throne; his first off-spring will be the third-in-line to the throne.  England changed the succession to the throne by allowing either female or males to occupy the sovereign chair.  Both England and the entire British Commonwealth have had their spirits lifted by the popular young couple being pregnant.

Kate and William met while the two were attending St. Andrew’s College located in the Scottish countryside of Fife.  Both had majored in Art History but William changed his major to Geography after meeting Kate.  It is reported that Princess Kate helped him with the decision; William listened.

It wasn’t until 2004 their status as a couple became known through photographs taken in the Swiss ski resort of Klosters.   The paparazzi haven’t left them alone since.

Last September, the very popular couple had gone to a private chateau, The Chateau d’Autet, which is south of Aix-en-Provence. It was a location where the royal couple expected some privacy and got exactly none. Some unscrupulous Paparazzo photographed Kate sunbathing topless.

At the time this writer wrote, “Picture this, the paparazzo fellow snaps off dozens of photos of Kate and William by the pool.  Some of the photos are of Kate topless; others are of Kate and William doing . . . well, whatever young people do around a pool when they think there alone.”  Well, now we know what they were doing; a future monarch, conceived by a swimming pool in the south of France.  Whoa …

No wonder the slimy paparazzo jumped into his beat-up, twenty year old Fiat that could hardly make the next hill and headed to Paris. His head was full dreams of fame and fortune. He may have the one picture of the Royal Conception.  If so, it’s possibly worth millions of dollars, pounds, Euros-who knows?

While the slimy paparazzo is getting rich, Princess Kate is has gotten a debilitating case of morning sickness; one that indicates girly-girl twins.

Kate, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge, may have to forego the handing out of shamrocks to the Irish Guards this next St. Patrick’s day.  This elite unit is a regiment of the British Army and is represented by an honorary “colonel” whose is member of the Royal Family.  Yes, the Duke of Cambridge himself, Prince William, Kate’s husband–such a small world.

Maybe Camilla Parker-Bowles, William’s stepmother, could step-in for Kate.  Camilla actually isn’t that popular with the English commoners.  The facts are that she almost brought the Monarchy to a close when she married the seemingly self-centered Prince Charles who divorced popular Princess Diana, William’s mother.

Charles’s parents, The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, did not attend Camilla and Charles’s civil marriage ceremony.  And, at a later special service conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the strongest act of penitence was read from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer:

“We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, have committed by word, thought and deed, against thy Divine Majesty, provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.”

Got to love the English–thankfully the World loves Princess Kate, and is excited for the new arrival (or is it arrivals)?
