Humana Offers Support for Californians Impacted by the Southern California Wildfires

Humana Inc., one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies, announced it has launched a series of efforts to assist its members, employees and communities in southern California impacted by the Hill and Woolsey wildfires.

Among those measures, Humana has opened its toll-free crisis intervention hotline and counseling services beyond employees and health plan members to include any individual who may need help and support coping with the wildfires.

Humana has counselors and work/life specialists available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-888-673-1154 to provide free, confidential assistance to anyone needing help and support in coping with the disaster and its aftermath. Assistance is available in both English and Spanish.

Humana has also taken these additional steps:

  • Humana is waiving all requirements for primary care physician (PCP) referrals and prior authorizations for members that identify themselves as being impacted by the fires in counties declared disaster areas.
  • Providing members who need to seek care out-of-network with the same cost-sharing they would receive from an in-network health care provider or facility.
  • For members with a pharmacy benefit, suspending restrictions on refills to allow for travel difficulties and evacuations.

Humana is conducting outreach to members in impacted areas of the counties (Los Angeles and Ventura) to let them know how to access care and get help if they are affected by these wildfires.

Humana members with questions about services available to them should call the toll-free phone number on the back of their Humana ID card.

Gurrola, Peterson & Sutrin: All-City Division 1 Girls Volleyball

The last time San Pedro High girls volleyball reached a CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division 1 championship match and garnered a postseason All-City selection before the 2018 season, was 2009, also the last time the Pirates won a Marine League championship. Fast forward to the end of 2018 season, two of those dubious droughts ended, with a little more honors to boot.San…See More
