POLA High Girls Soccer Takes Care Of Business In Opening Round Rout

It was the first test in the CIF-Los Angeles City Section playoffs for Port Of Los Angeles High girls soccer, and they passed with flying colors.

Proving that their undefeated regular season was legit, the Polar Bears would not ease up against visiting Orthopedic in the opening round of the Small Schools Division playoffs, as they rolled to a dominating 5-0 victory at Daniels Field. Junior forward Nikki Bonilla would turn a 2-0 halftime lead in the opening moments of the second half by scoring two lightning quick goals to clinch their 15th consecutive win.

Adding the finishing touches was junior midfielder Alyssa Bristol, as she scored a near-impossible goal from nearly 30 yards away according to coach Jennifer Kelly, as Bristol primarily played defense the majority of the day against No.16 Orthopedic.

Freshman midfielders Samantha Walker and Ariella Martinez scored in the first half for top-seeded POLA (15-0) who advances to the second round of the CIF-LACS Small Schools Division playoffs on Wednesday at Daniels Field.

My Rooney Thoughts for May 27, 2012 There are times when we must send our children to a place where we can’t protect them, a place of chaos, disorder and uncertainty.  It’s a place of upheaval, bewilderment and death.  It’s a place where our politicians like to say “they gave their last full measure of devotion.”  To a few are given medals to honor their deeds, others just get a simple white stone cross or Star of David. These brave men and women have fought all over the world—they did not…See More
