Review of Ceramic Art by Regina Fernandez

Let me start by saying that I myself have worked with clay and ceramics for many years. I've done the pre-poured pieces that you can paint and fire in a little shop, bowls your create on a potter's wheel at a studio, and rolling out slabs or forming shapes with your bare hands in places such as Angel's Gate. I understand how much work it takes to create something in clay that shows your artistic side.

So I feel that I am qualified to review thet unbelievable work of Regina Fernandez, owner of Doorstep Day Spa, who has been working in clay for only about 1 year!

Teapot at MaGriffe Gallery

This little beauty is a pretty example of Regina's whimsical side.
Perfectly formed yet artistic. The handles are happy little curls of color. And let me tell you, intricate work can be very difficult. This is something teapot aficionados would LOVE to have in their collection!

Seashell Bowl at the San Pedro Art Association gallery

I was amazed when I saw this bowl! Regina has captured the peaceful beauty of the sea in something quite unique! I had to ask her about the seashells as I was sure they were real. But she managed to create the beauty and color of the shells in a way that makes me feel like I'm sitting underwater.

To me, this is one of Regina's most beautiful pieces yet. The colors and texture are very realistic while still being artistic.

Santa, I think I know what I want for Christmas!!!

Good description of her work, Marlene. I have been very impressed with the rapid growth of Regina's skills in working with clay. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe her work!
