New Pet Nutrition Discovery - Another challenge for our cat

Last year/earlier this year Rascal had digestive issues stemming from dry cat food, his allergy to ingredients such as wheat/gluten, and were 99% resolved by switching him to wet only, low carb canned cat food.

Since then he has gained back his weight (he had lost quite a bit from being sick a lot), his digestive problems are rare, and sandbox issues are better than ever.

So when he got sick this past week, and didn’t recover shortly afterwards, we knew something was…

Selling a mobile home in Southern California - updated

In 2007 my mom passed away and I had the daunting task of cleaning and purging her mobile home, and prepping it for sale. What I learned, just in the nick of time, saved me $7965.00 in unnecessary fees.

..................................

It turns out that for many mobile home parks in California, you own the "home" but you do not own the land. In this case the mobile home is virtually the same as a car, not real estate, parked in a space.

When…

Talking about Crafting and small businesses

I had the extreme pleasure of speaking on Blog Talk Radio tonight with my friend and former Co:worker Donna Sam about my and my friend's compassion of crafting, and how it exemplifies the made in the U.S., small business and the American dream. I feel very strongly about trying to get everyone to make things, buy things hand made and get a resurgence of those values.…

California Unemployment Checks Delayed

The California EDD (Employment Development Department) is apparently having a glitch of some sort and unemployment benefit checks have been delayed. Not exactly what the unemployed need! Some have been delayed as much as 8 weeks. Also, not sure if this is all US EDD divisions or just California.

According to the California EDD website, they are upgrading their software. And due to "Federal budget cuts", they are "short staffed". The EDD comment was dated September (FRIDAY) the 13th.…

Ports of Call development and the San Pedro Art Association

Ports O' Call is being re-developed. What about current tenants? Most will be allowed to stay until the end of 2014.

Is it OK for a non-profit to also remain, for now, under an agreement set years ago, and previously honored?

I attended yesterday's Harbor Commission meeting, and while the SPAA was not the only tenant speaking up, here's a tidbit about what's going on with their discussion with port officials, from the Daily Breeze.…

We need a fully stocked craft store in San Pedro!

I'm going to keep "harping" at our community to get a bona fide arts & craft store in this town! Nothing against the little shop on 6th street, but since we have many artists and crafters in San Pedro, including members of Crafted, and San Pedro Crafters, we need something fully stocked with beads, clays, findings, art supplies, cake decorating, yarn, sewing supplies,…

Review of Ceramic Art by Regina Fernandez

Let me start by saying that I myself have worked with clay and ceramics for many years. I've done the pre-poured pieces that you can paint and fire in a little shop, bowls your create on a potter's wheel at a studio, and rolling out slabs or forming shapes with your bare hands in places such as Angel's Gate. I understand how much work it takes to create something in clay that shows your artistic side.

So I feel that I am qualified to review thet unbelievable work of Regina Fernandez,… Continue

Big news for parking at Crafted!

As Crafted's vendor Honey and Ollie just posted, Crafted will now be allowing FREE PARKING!

If you have one of the special parking permits issued recently, hang on to it - when Crafted has a special event where they STILL charge for parking, you will be able to get in FREE.

I think this is a good move by Crafted. Personally, I have thought that charging at Crafted was not in their best interest. I feel this should help, specially with the Holiday season upon us.
