Event Description

Spend Saturday morning enjoying the coast while helping the environment by joining the international effort to "Adopt a Beach". Hosted by Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission, this event will be the 29th annual Cabrillo Beach Clean-Up. Every U.S. state and more than 90 countries are participating in the clean-up.

Participants will meet on outer Cabrillo Beach at 9 am. Aquarium staff will provide bags, instructions and light refreshments. All participants must bring a signed waiver. For children under the age of 18, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian. Groups are requested to call ahead at 310-548-7562. Download Coastal Cleanup Day Waiver.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is the premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment in the country. Last year more than 65,000 volunteers worked together to collect more than 770,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from our beaches, lakes, and waterways. California Coastal Cleanup Day was hailed by the 1993 Guinness Book of World Records as "the largest garbage collection."

Since the program started in 1985, more than 800,000 Californians have removed more than 14 million pounds of debris from our State's shorelines and coast. When combined with the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by Ocean Conservancy and taking place on the same day, California Coastal Cleanup Day becomes part of one of the largest volunteer events of the year.
