Event Description

Karen Golden has been a professional storyteller since 1986. Her stories are very funny, inspiring, outrageous and real! "Love from Jewish Kitchens" is a buffet of tales from Karen’s rich Jewish heritage and the Jewish oral tradition, and provides a heartwarming, food-centric journey through the Jewish Holidays, which will no doubt be very familiar for some, nostalgic for others and completely revealing to those who wonder, but know very little about traditional Jewish foods, the significance of certain Jewish Holidays, and why it’s customary to have certain foods. Sharing these special foods with family and friends keeps the culture alive, reminds us of “home”, and helps keep us connected to our past as well as to our future. These heartwarming stories of food, love and family, remind us of the importance of family traditions and the role food plays in our celebrations and our memories of those we love. From the aroma of freshly baked challah bread to the journey of making homemade gefilte fish, this holiday spread of stories is sure to be a sweet treat! A catered reception (“little nosh”) will follow the performance. You can purchase tickets online: http://lovefromjewishkitchens.eventbrite.com or you can pay by cash, check or credit card at the IMA offices, while supplies last.
