2013 All-News Pilot Prep Softball First Team (Part Two)

Amber Nunez, Mary Star, senior, catcher: The Bishop Montgomery transfer felt right at home in catching the News Pilot Pitcher Of The Year Marina Vitalich this season, and was a tremendous force in the Stars' run to the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 finals. Nunez, who is also a great singer, hit an RBI-single in the first inning that gave Mary Star a brief lead in the finals against Bell-Jeff, and hit an RBI-double in the semifinal win over Rosamond.

Rosemary Garcia, Port Of Los Angeles, sophomore, 2B: Garcia leapfrogged from San Pedro to carve her own legacy at POLA, and so far, she's well on her way. The All-City Small Schools first team pick hit .404 with six homers and 36 RBIs, was second on the team with 12 doubles, and led all starting infielders at POLA with 29 assists.

Doreen Corella, San Pedro, junior, outfielder: The All-Marine League second team pick and three-year veteran provided the strongest arm from center field, throwing out two runners at home plate and three others at second base. Corella hit .386 with 10 RBIs, 39 hits and 28 runs scored in helping the Pirates reach the CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division I semifinals.

Jocelyn Kondash, San Pedro, junior, P/INF/OF: The All-Marine League second team pick was one of the best all-around players in all of San Pedro. Kondash hit .295 with 2 home runs and 27 RBIs, while also piling up a 7-5 record with a 3.43 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 65.1 innings pitched for the Pirates.

Lexie Geich, Mary Star, sophomore, shortstop: A very talented athlete who also boasts a 4.5 GPA, Geich was very instrumental in the Stars' run to their third straight Camino Real League title and CIF-SS Division 6 runner-up campaign. The two-year veteran also shined brightly in the Stars' final two games, blasting an RBI-triple in the semifinals against Rosamond, and going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI against Bell-Jeff in the final.
