Friday, September 9, 2011 will forever be known as the day San Pedro High School football achieved its 500th victory in 104 years of high school football when the Pirates defeated West Adams Prep of Los Angeles, 27-7, in the 2011 season opener. Since playing its first game in 1908, San Pedro has accumulated a record of 500-369-38, and five CIF-Los Angeles City Section championships in 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 2008. Kenny Potter threw four touchdown passes to pace the Pirates in the victory over West Adams.
