Friday, October 13, 2000 was the debut of San Pedro High's 6,000-seat Pirate Stadium, and what a way to kick off the amazing atmosphere. San Pedro High football would defeat the first visitor... Harbor Area neighbor Banning of Wilmington, 21-14 in overtime after Alex Teems broke up the Pilots' last chance to extend the game. It was Teems' six-yard touchdown run in overtime the was the deciding factor for the Pirates.
