It only took three plays in the bottom of the ninth inning of the 2003 CIF-Los Angeles City Section Softball Finals, but San Pedro High softball needed all of them to earn a fourth straight City title. First, Nicole Castagnola rips a single with two strikes on her, then slides safely into second base to beat out a force throw during Stephanie Tam's sacrifice bunt. Then Ashley Esparza provided the finishing touch with a booming double down the right field line to score Castagnola, and give San Pedro their fourth straight crown, in a 1-0 win over longtime rival Carson at UCLA.
