Event Description

During construction of Harbor Interfaith Services new building, many of of donors held onto clothing and shoes that they'd normally donate to us.

Since opening our new Family Resource Center last  month, the donations have been pouring in and we're running out of space. So as everyone cleans their closet to prepare for back-to-school, we'd like to try something different.

We're partnering with Soles for Life, which accepts used shoes and clothing and ships them to Third World  countries to people in desperate need. They will pay Harbor Interfaith  Services 30 cents a pound for shoes and 15 cents a pound for clothing, helping us provide services for the homeless and working poor  right here in our community.

Proceeds will also help fund water purification projects around the world. Check out this very worthy  organization online at www.solesforlife.org. We think you will be impressed.

People often tell us they prefer to donate their used clothing to Harbor Interfaith Services precisely because we never sell donations--everything goes directly to our clients. Rest assured, this is something we're trying only because of the huge backlog of donations that accumulated during construction of our new facility. If you feel strongly about your items staying local, just let us know and we will set your items aside.
