Event Description

We are excited to be kicking off our sixth (6th) season of storytelling at the Institute of Musical Art’s Ray G. Clark Theater! On Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., our very own WOMEN’S VOICES will bring us another fantastic show, titled “Digging in the Dirt.” Experience the rich heritage of the spoken word tradition with this ensemble of storytellers who will perform original, personal stories they developed in their “Tell Me a Story” workshop.
Our resourceful “Front Porch Grandmothers” once again gather together to share in a charitable project, potting house plants for a neighborhood convalescent home.
Come and “eavesdrop” on this colorful group of women, as they gather on the patio in a late summer afternoon to get their hands dirty. While “digging in the dirt” they share memories of their earlier gardening successes and failures.
The stories include everything from reminiscings about grandma’s prize garden to a lively tale about today’s drought tolerant succulents. You will be the proverbial “fly on the wall”, as Roylene Walker, Carrie Tyler, Beverly Morgan, Helen Brown, and Marion Hinton present stories that celebrate their lives.
We’d love to have you share in the festivities and enjoy an afternoon of great entertainment. You can buy tickets online http://digginginthedirt.eventbrite.com  or by visiting our website http://www.imalosangeles.com You may also pay by cash, check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last. Tickets for the performance are $20.00.
Ours is a small, intimate theater, and we do expect that this concert will sell out. So please, purchase your tickets today. As is our custom at the Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance.
We really hate the thought of disappointing anyone, so please call us at least TWO HOURS BEFORE the performance to verify ticket availability if you do not purchase your ticket in advance. For additional information call: (323) 300-6578. We hope to see you there!
