Military veterans who become college students after their service often face different challenges than their classmates. To assist them as they continue their transition from active duty to civilian life and to help them navigate university life, California State University, Dominguez Hills is opening the campus’s first dedicated space for student veterans, the Veteran Student Programs (VSP) Office.
On Thursday, September 22, at 2 p.m., University President Mildred García will be joined by Capt Winton Smith, commanding officer of Naval Base San Diego, and a number of student veterans in cutting the ribbon on the new facility. The CSU Dominguez Hills ROTC Color Guard will present colors and students in the music department will perform the national anthem. The Veterans Student Programs Office is located on the lower level of the Loker Student Union, room 132. The public is welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
WHERE: Room 132, Loker Student Union at California State University, Dominguez Hills, 1000 E. Victoria St., Carson, CA; parking is $4 in campus lots.
