2015-2016 San Pedro Prep Sports Athletes Of The Year

With the 2015-2016 San Pedro Prep Sports year officially over... I've decided to go with three Athletes Of The Year since these three have made the most impact throughout.

San Pedro High football senior WR/DB Antonio 'A.J.' Frazier Jr. is the Male Athlete Of The Year, as the Northern State (Aberdeen, South Dakota)-bound All-City first team defense and Marine League Co-Defensive Player Of The Year would be the first in history of the program to score touchdowns in four different ways (rushing, receiving, punt return, interception return), a total of six scores and over 1,000 all-purpose yards.

San Pedro High girls cross-country and track distance runner Bronwyn Bunnell and Port Of Los Angeles High softball junior pitcher Analise De La Roca share the honor of Female Athlete Of The Year.

The UC Santa Barbara-bound Bunnell capped off a stellar four-year journey by reaching the CIF State meets in both cross-country and track, overcoming a 100-degree fever in the CIF-LACS track finals to finish a race and advance to State.

De La Roca led an undermanned POLA team that lost 3 players to grade cuts and 2 more to injury, all the way to the CIF-LACS Division 1 semifinals, breaking the City single-season record with 408 strikeouts, going 26-4 while also hitting four booming home runs. The Arizona State commit was also named the CIF-LACS Co-Most Valuable Pitcher for her extraordinary efforts.

Congratulations to A.J., Bronwyn and Analise for your spectacular 2015-2016 exploits
