Art is an expression of our creative spirituality ...and on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm fine art and music will be flourishing in the gardens of the Mary & Joseph Retreat Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. Join us for this amazing event combining fine art and artists, sunshine, Taiko drums and Barbershop harmony, flowers and strawberry shortcake.

Artists will be painting, drawing and displaying their work throughout our eight acres of gardens. The Walker Artist Group, which includes local favorites such as Bob Doughty, Florence Strauss, Logan Fox, Scott Brown, Loren Clapp, Bob Mackie, Doug Magill, Jody Wiggins and Jan Nowinski as well as invited artists Stephen Mirich, Carol Hungerford, JoAnn Fallon Finnegan and Marcello Dolce will have their work onsite.

The stellar Taiko Drum Corp from Crespi Carmelite High School will be drumming for us to stir our souls with sound. We will also be serenaded by the famous Southbay Coastliners Barbershop Harmony Chorus! Members of the South Bay Chapter of the world's largest men's singing organization, these boys really know how to put on a show.

At the close of the day, we will be serving homemade strawberry shortcake with all the trimmings, lemonade and iced tea in our beautiful sun-dappled gardens. Join us for a lovely afternoon with lots of art, music, singing, wonderful food, good cheer and fellowship.

For reservations for this event, call Irma at (310) 377-4867 ext 234. The cost of the event is $10.00. The location will be in the gardens at the Mary & Joseph Retreat Center at 5300 Crest Road in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The Mary & Joseph Retreat Center is a year-round, non-profit, interfaith retreat and conference center founded by the Daughters of Mary & Joseph. At our center you will experience eight acres of scenic beauty located on a hilltop in Palos Verdes. The mission of the center is to provide a nurturing environment of peace and tranquility. Through our programs and hospitality, we create opportunities for the personal and spiritual growth of each person who comes to our sacred grounds. They find a peaceful, inspirational environment, conducive to thoughtful exploration of both spiritual and temporal matters.
