Before the 2011 San Pedro High football season began, the pre-game performances that have always been a trademark from the Golden Pirate Regiment marching band had all the ingredients, but didn't have the spice of a baton twirler.
Enter Destiny Lauro.
In the last two years, Lauro, now a sophomore at San Pedro High, has added more sizzle to the steak of an already amazing pre-game performance, and has twirled her way into the hearts of Pirate football fans everywhere with her outstanding talent.
Lauro is mature beyond her years and is a great friend to all who know her. Along with her outstanding personality, she's also an accomplished baton twirler.
Destiny just competed in the California State Championships...she is now the 2013 California State 2Baton Champion, California State Strut Champion, and the California State Duet Champion with her Sister, Liliana, who attends Dodson Middle School and is a seventh grade talent. Lauro has also placed top 5 in the Grand National Competition at South Bend, Indiana.
That's right, Destiny was able to perform on the grand stage at the University Of Notre Dame, where she was able to see the amazing mural of 'Touchdown Jesus'.
During San Pedro's Homecoming football game against visiting Washington Prep of Los Angeles earlier this month, Lauro added a new wrinkle to her talent... she twirled a special baton with fire burning on each side, and came out of that pre-game performance without a single scratch.
Now THAT is impressive.
Baton twirling is definitely Lauro's Destiny.
