Nearly 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in commencement this year, representing students who completed their degree in the summer and fall of 2013, and those who completed or expect to complete their degrees during spring or summer 2014. Approximately 3,000 are expected to participate in commencement exercises.

Bob Blair — Bob Blair is the chief administrative officer for the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center, where he leads operations and provides strategic oversight for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) providing care to over 200,000 health plan members and their families in the South Bay. Blair began his career at Kaiser Permanente in 1987 and has held positions as an administrative resident at South Bay Medical Center, Kaiser Family Health finance director at Bellflower Medical Center, assistant medical group administrator at Bellflower and Downey, and manager of clinical operations for the SCPMG region. Blair has a master’s degree in health services management from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a bachelor’s degree in medical technology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Utah.
Dan Beckerman—Dan Beckerman serves as president and chief executive officer for AEG, one of the world’s leading presenters of sports and entertainment programming. In addition to oversight of key AEG divisions such as AEG Facilities, AEG Live, AEG Sports, AEG Global Partnerships, AEG Europe, AEG China, and AEG Digital (including the AXS platform), Berkerman, who reports directly to AEG founder and chairman Phillip Anschultz, oversees long range planning, acquisitions, financial oversight and corporate governance while serving on the six-member committee that constitutes AEG’s Office of the Chairman. Beckerman received his MBA in finance from the UCLA Anderson School, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA.
Dr. Geraldine Knatz — Geraldine Knatz, Ph.D., served as executive director of the Port of Los Angeles for eight years before retiring in February 2014. While head of North America’s largest container port, she was instrumental in creating and implementing an aggressive Clean Air Plan that cleared the way for major new developments at the West Coast’s largest international trade hub that had ramifications throughout the world. Prior to serving as the head of the Port of L.A., she was managing director of the Port of Long Beach. She is currently professor of practice at USC with a joint appointment in the School of Engineering and School of Public Policy. Knatz holds two degrees from USC, a doctorate in biological science and a master’s in environmental engineering. She earned her bachelor’s in zoology from Rutgers University.
Yvonne Brathwaite-Burke — Yvonne B. Burke became the first African American woman elected to the U.S. Congress from California in 1972, serving until 1978. Prior to her service in Congress, she served three terms in the California Assembly. She went on to serve 17 years on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (1979-80 and 1992-2008). In 2014 was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate to the Board of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (AMTRAK). She also serves on the Board of Directors of the California Transportation Commission, LA 84 Foundation and Century Housing. Burke earned her Juris Doctor from USC School of Law, and her bachelor’s from UCLA.
Jamienne S. Studley —Jamie Studley was appointed US. Department of Education (DOE) acting under secretary of education in December 2013. Prior to her appointment she served as deputy under secretary of education. Studley was DOE deputy and acting general counsel in the Clinton Administration. She is past president of Skidmore College, former president and CEO of Public Advocates, Inc. and former executive director of the National Association for Law Placement. She has served as board member and treasurer of the American Association of Colleges and Universities and on policy committees of the National Association of Independent Colleges and University. She has a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and bachelor’s from Barnard College.
