These may be just a few of the terms you use to search for a chiropractor, massage, physical therapy, and other treatments in your local area. While you may find some results, how do you know where to go to get the best treatment for you?
If you need to find a new chiropractor, massage therapist or other, treatment specialist, start by asking friends and family members for their referrals. This can help you save a lot of research time and get persona experiences and insights from people you trust.
Once you have a few names on your list of potential health facilities, conduct your own research. Search online for the bio of each caregiver.
Do they have the appropriate licenses and experience to help you?
For example, “certification and licensure of chiropractors is governed by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE),” per the American Chiropractic Association. Chiropractors start with obtaining a degree at a nationally-accredited, four-year doctoral graduate school program with an extensive curriculum and over 4,000 hours of classroom time. Then, they must “pass a board exam and then obtain a license in the state in which they wish to practice.” In addition, chiropractors need to meet specific, continuing education requirements on a yearly basis in order to keep their license active.
When you visit a new chiropractor, physical therapist or massage specialist, take note of how you feel.
If you have a positive experience, and start to feel better, you’ve made a good choice for you! If not, start your research over until you find the right team of therapists for you.
While you may do a quick search online to find the best chiropractic office or massage therapist in your office, note that it may not be the right choice for you. It’s essential to ask friends and family members for referrals, check the background of the specialist you want to see and then form your own opinion with an initial visit.
Each person is different, and your treatment should be unique too! It takes a little extra time to find just the right specialist for your specific needs. But, it’s worth it. You’ll save time and money later. And more important, you’ll feel better!
