Holy Trinity Parish in San Pedro Announces New Priest – Augustine Chang

Ordained from St. John’s Seminary in June, Fr. Chang to Join Holy Trinity Parish in July

SAN PEDRO (June 27, 2011) – Holy Trinity Parish in San Pedro announced today that Father Augustine Chang, newly ordained from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, will be joining Holy Trinity Parish, celebrating his first Masses in July.

            Father Chang is the son of Peter and Teresa Chang.  He graduated from Norwalk High School and the University of California Irvine with a degree in Computer Science.  He was a software engineer before entering the seminary at St. John’s.

            Father Chang says, “I felt an initial calling in high school, and Father Mark Choi, my pastor, provided tremendous influence for my discernment to the priesthood through his inspiration, encouragement and support. My experiences during internship and diaconate strongly reinforced my calling. Although studies at the seminary were important, pretty much anything involving pastoral ministry helped me to remember why God called me in the first place. Such experiences made me feel the most ‘alive.’”

St. John’s Seminary is a multicultural community of seminarians pursuing advanced professional degrees leading to ordination and pastoral ministry (Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry) and teaching Catholic theology (M.A.).  Seminarians come from diverse backgrounds, ages and professions.
