San Pedro Brewing Company, aka BREWCO, is a bar and grill in old downtown San Pedro, CA on 6th Street that serves as my favorite lunch-time eatery. They are celebrating their 12th anniversary this year which is a real milestone for our local San Pedro businesses. Their award-winning beers are produced by Jason the Brewmaster. The local longshoremen ambiance makes it a fun stop for a bite to eat (and more) should your schedule and mood permit it. From attorneys (from the court-house across the street) to dock workers, construction workers, tradesmen and local moms out for lunch, it's quite a mix.

Their usually friendly staff (you have to get to know them) work hard to serve up a variety of home-grown beers and a well varied menu that has daily surprises from Chef Diego. Try the Fried Calamari appetizer or Brewco's own version of Italian Bruschetta. You'll like em both. My standard lunch rotation includes the BLT w/avocado, Corned Beef on a French Roll w/fries, Beer Battered Shrimp & Chips, Meat Loaf or the Daily Special.

With several flat screen TVs all going at once, it turns into a sports bar on Saturdays and Sundays during football season. James Brown, the owner (pictured at right) usually leads the ruckus on Saturdays with his die-hard support of UCLA. All team supporters are welcome and usually wear their team colors while having lunch and watching the games. James has just recently married. Congratulations James!

An outdoor sidewalk section has several tables that serve those longing for nature and the exhaust emissions from the 6th Street traffic. They even have their own flat screen out there.

And, they're open for dinner. The evenings bring frequent entertainment from DJ's to small groups on a mini stage with lighting, a sound system and all the speakers required to make it loud. I don't often make it for dinner. I'm usually home in bed before the night really gets started, but I hear it's a lot of fun.
