What it means to lend a “Helping Hand.” Typically when asked for a favor by a close friend or family member, the word “Yes” escapes our mouths before the daunting question of “How? What? When? Where? And Why?” However when a charity or non-profit asks, it seem that most people try to prolong and avoid an answer; but why? Some may see it as an inconvenience, others as a way to avoid a mailing list; but, kids at Toberman see it as a chance to learn, succeed, and as a foundation to a world of kindness. Toberman Neighborhood Center has been servicing the San Pedro/ Harbor Area for decades, with services based around the community’s needs. What once started out as a settlement house in Echo Park has blossomed into its proud campus built solely to encourage, empower, support, and motivate the curious minds of San Pedro’s youth.
