MSHS Girls Basketball Beats Malibu To Capture Sixth Victory

Mary Star High girls basketball continued its renaissance season with a solid 48-25 victory over visiting Malibu Monday that tripled last season's win total.

With this latest victory, the Stars are now 6-7 overall.

Freshman guard Angela Pisano continues her frantic scoring pace, leading Mary Star with a game-high 22 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Junior guard Marina Vitalich added 7 points, six assists and four steals, and senior forward Brina Garcia came of the bench with four points and seven rebounds. Mary Star led from wire-to-wire and held a 27-12 halftime lead before Pisano got hot with 10 third quarter points to pull away.

"I took my time and didn't rush my shot," Pisano said of her strong third quarter. "I also stepped up my game on defense which caused turnovers. It was a team effort that got it done and I'm very proud of every one of my teammates."

The Stars will continue their season with their Camino Real League opener at St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs on January 14.

Curmudgeon Corner -Holiday Season

For December 14, 2014Hey, that time of year is here again.  A time of year when we put Ferguson, EITs, and choke holds aside and extend goodwill (goodwill: a kind, helpful, or friendly feeling or attitude.) to everyone.   Yep, I’m talking about the Christmas Season.  Oops, I mean the Holiday Season.  By saying “Holiday Season” I’m showing goodwill towards everyone.  It’s politically correct to say “Holiday Season” and we all know how politically correct our political leaders are.The Holiday…See More

Curmudgeon Corner - Standing for the Right Thing

For December 21, 2014When I was young and foolish many, many years ago I got a hand full of Cuban cigars.  Those of you familiar with Cuban cigars, therefore know, I got a hold of one of those big babies.  Yep, thought I was hot stuff.  Pulled out a blow torch and lit the darn thing. Showed everyone what it was to be a man. Fifteen minutes later, I was totally sick to my stomach, puking whatever it was I ate for dinner. So, you see, if I don’t seem excited about the President establishing…See More
