After a three-game losing streak to begin the season, the Port Of Los Angeles High baseball team is starting to come around, as they pounded visiting Leuzinger of Lawndale, 12-2 in six innings of a Southern California Invitational consolation game.
Senior pitcher Tyler Walters struck out nine in four innings of work, while also going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Senior outfielder Brandon Giordano blasted two doubles, scored two runs, and added two RBIs for POLA (3-2 overall), who banged 12 hits, five of which were doubles. Walters, senior Andrew Lazo and junior Gabriel Martinez hit the other three doubles for the Polar Bears, who will next host King-Drew Medical Magnet of Los Angeles on Monday in a nonleague game.
