The 2014 All-San Pedro News Pilot Prep Football Team

The 2014 season for San Pedro and Mary Star High football had several players show out and make their presence known despite the fact their seasons both went opposite directions.

San Pedro junior quarterback Jacob Miller emerged as the Most Improved Player as he completed 78-of-155 passes for 1,476 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions, earning a quarterback rating of 95.0. Miller got his season started off right on August 29 by throwing for three touchdown passes in the Pirates' 35-7 victory over Morro Bay.

Mary Star junior RB/LB Vinny Lauro ends up as the most outstanding player as he rushed for 1,153 yards and ten touchdowns on 195 carries, while catching 19 passes for 268 yards and four more touchdowns.

In a 69-20 victory over Bosco Tech of Rosemead on October 31, Lauro, an All-Santa Fe League first team selection, accounted for five touchdowns on three runs, a reception, and even a pass, when he threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Ubert Arana on a halfback option trick play.

San Pedro senior offensive lineman Dominic O'Brien gets the nod for our Lineman Of The Year as he anchored an experience line, leading the charge with 32 pancake blocks, while San Pedro junior WR/DB Antonio Frazier Jr. is the Defensive MVP as he excelled like no other as a free safety, registering 72 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery and four pass deflections.
