The 2015 All-San Pedro News Pilot Prep Boys Volleyball Team

The 2015 seasons for San Pedro, Port Of Los Angeles and Mary Star Of The Sea High Schools had a contrast in styles, but produced amazing results.

Behind first-year coach Mike St. Louis, San Pedro would post a 21-8-1 overall record, placing second in the Marine League with a 10-2 mark, with the only two defeats coming to eventual CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division I runner-up Carson. The Pirates still managed not one, but two thrilling five-set victories over rival Narbonne of Harbor City to solidify their season.

San Pedro, behind a veteran team, swept Birmingham of Lake Balboa in three sets in the opening round of the CIF-LACS Division I playoffs before falling in the quarterfinals to host El Camino Real of Woodland Hills.

Port Of Los Angeles behind first-year coach Rowel Ramirez, shook off an early five-set loss to Mary Star where they blew a 2-1 lead, by going 8-0 in the Crosstown League and reaching the semifinals of the CIF-LACS Division III playoffs, where they lost to eventual champion Jordan of Los Angeles. The Polar Bears posted a solid 18-5-2 record overall, even tying San Pedro in a short two-set San Pedro Pirate Tournament match on March 21.

Mary Star would miss the CIF-Southern Section Division IV playoffs after going 9-15-2 overall, placing fourth in the Camino Real League with a 4-6 mark. The Stars and coach Norm Lantz, two years removed from winning the league title, dropped six of their final nine matches when they only needed 10 wins to qualify for a potential at-large playoff bid.

San Pedro senior outside hitter Conor Healy made the All-City Division I second team after pacing the Pirates with 115 kills, 26 blocks and 22 service aces, as the All-Marine League first team selection is our 2015 San Pedro News Pilot Prep Boys Volleyball Player Of The Year.

Ramirez is Coach Of The Year while POLA senior Amra Brucelas is our Most Outstanding Player. Brucelas was selected to the All-City Division III first team, while juniors Aziah Lopez and Matthew Gurrola were All-City Division III second team selections.
