The disjunctive Facebook rantings I’ve read this week between what are apparently rival support groups involved in improving the quality of life in San Pedro serve no useful purpose. Serving food to the homeless in a park is now a bad thing?
Were there permits issued for the function; probably not. Did the organizers provide clean up of the park afterwards? Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. I don’t know the real answers to any of these questions.
So what if they didn’t get permits, so what if they didn’t clean up. The park eventually got cleaned up. Does that really make them bad people?
We are all aware of the problems being faced in San Pedro, and yes believe it or not, country wide. I’m not going to list them all here because we all know what they are.
There are many ideas being floated as to how we should address these problems; some pie-in-the-sky, some, serious solutions.
Regardless, every one I’ve talked to is dedicated to raising our standard of living; well, not everyone, apparently Harbor Commissioner David Arian is on another track, but the rest of us anyway.
If we are going to live together, and that includes the homeless population, (they have to live somewhere) we must somehow learn to work together.
Please everyone, the name calling, the outright hatred being expressed over my beloved internet is doing a disservice to us all and casts San Pedrans in a bad light.
It will not accomplish anything. Get it together people.
