Join us on Saturday, February 16th at 1pm as the Los Angeles Maritime Museum will open its newest exhibit: “Jack London, Photographer – A Writer’s Pacific Adventure”. To kick off the event, Sara “Sue” Hodson, Curator of Literary Manuscripts at the Huntington Library and author of “Jack London, Photographer” - the book that inspired the exhibit - will host a presentation and book signing.
Included are more than 50 rare photographs taken by writer / adventurer Jack London (1876-1916). London, best known as the author of such classics as “White Fang” and “Call of the Wild” was also a self-trained photojournalist. His subjects include the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, the Cruise of the SNARK, London’s trip around Cape Horn aboard the DIRIGO, and the Russo-Japanese War.
The photographs will be on view through June 16th.
Admission to the presentation and exhibit are free. The book will be available for sale in the Sea Chest Museum shop for $50.00 ($45 for museum members)
