Event Description

This unique program of stories and music has been cancelled due to an injury to our featured storyteller.

We have something very special in store..... Storyteller Katy Rydell and Musician Robert S. Hilton will present a unique program of stories and music, in their new show called "Tossed Salad" on Sunday, March 22, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at the Institute of Musical Arts' Ray G. Clark Theater.
Katy has been a storyteller, writer, musician, and recording artist for over twenty-five years. She is author of a children's bedtime story called Wind Says Good Night. With folk musician Ross Altman, she is creator of Two for the Road, a CD of stories and songs. She has taught storytelling at universities, delighted audiences at festivals, performed at libraries, museums, and symphony
orchestras, and had fun everywhere. Katy's stories are infused with the mystery and magic of life. Seven years ago she moved from Los Angeles to Portland, Maine and the Los Angeles storytelling community lamented the loss of one of its brightest gems. Katy is coming back to Los Angeles for a visit, and will be gracing us with a storytelling concert; and if that weren't wonderful enough, will be performing with Musician Robert S. Hilton.
Robert was, for many years, on the faculty of the Armory Center for the Arts. He designs, builds, and plays unique musical instruments, often using and repurposing materials not usually associated with creating musical sounds. His instruments are often sculptural in nature, but music is the ultimate goal. Robert started making musical instruments in 1974, and since then has played and exhibited his art in numerous major venues.  At the J. Paul Getty Museum he provided a stunning musical backdrop for poets Peter J. Harris and Ruth Foreman. His own poetry has been featured at the World Stage in Leimert Park.
In "Tossed Salad", Katy Rydell brings folktales for adults; Robert S. Hilton brings original musical instruments, and together they’ll mix stories, music and poetry to create a whole new taste treat. Please plan to join us on March 22nd, to welcome Katy and Robert and to treat yourself to an afternoon of great entertainment. As is our custom at the Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance.
You can buy tickets online at http://tossedsalad.eventbrite.com , or by visiting our website:
www.imalosangeles.com or you can pay by cash, check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last.

For additional information call: (323) 300-6578.
