Event Description

As a black woman who was a feminist before the term was invented, Daisy Bates refused to accept her assigned place in society. This film tells the story of her life and public suppo...rt of nine black students to attend the all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, which culminated in a constitutional crisis--pushing a president against a governor and challenging the nation toward social change.

Grand Vision Foundation has partnered with ITVS Community Cinema to bring to the Warner Grand
Theatre and Grand Annex films from the PBS series, Independent Lens. Community Cinema brings the community together to learn, discuss and get involved in today’s critical social issues.
All Films Free- Due to seating limits, please make advance reservations • www.grandvision.org • 310.833.4813
