Now here's something different: Just after they appear at the next Coachella festival,Mumford & Sons will embark on a week-long tour from Oakland to New Orleans that will find the British breakout band riding the rails in vintage style, with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show joining the journey.

The outing, dubbed the Railroad Revival Tour, will pack all three bands onto 15 vintage railcars from the '50s and '60s, embarking from the Bay Area after an April 21 show at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park and making stops at unusual locations throughout the Southwest, concluding just before M&S plays the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 29. A week before that, the trains will arrive in San Pedro, where the lineup will take over Ports o' Call Village on April 22. Tickets go on sale March 9, at 9 a.m., with a pre-sale scheduled for all day March 8.

Standard admission is $55 and includes a commemorative ticket and mp3 download of official live recordings from the tour, expected to produce a high level of collaboration both on stage and on board. For $150, you get the official Railroad Revival Tour bundle, which tacks on a limited-edition tour poster by Italian illustrator Luca Zamoc printed on canvas, a commemorative ticket from each of the six whistle stops, plus bonus download tracks.
