Event Description

TRI-CARSON, the sprint reverse triathlon and support races now in its fourth year, returns to the California State University, Dominguez Hills campus the morning of Sunday, Nov. 3. The first race begins at 8 a.m.

Presented by Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center and organized by the City of Carson, CSU Dominguez Hills, and the Long Beach TRI Club, TRI-Carson is six events in one, offering something for every level of competitor. Last year, over 450 individuals participated in the event. Participants can choose from the TRI-CARSON Sprint Reverse Triathlon individual or relay, Inaugural TORO 5K, 1-Mile Campus Walk, Kids Dash, or Kids Super-Sprint Triathlon, the CrossFit 5150 Triathlon. A portion of the proceeds supports student scholarships in the CSU Dominguez Hills Department of Kinesiology.

The Reverse Sprint Triathlon is geared for beginners and incorporates a 5K run, 15-mile bicycle ride and a 150-meter swim. Both the run and bicycle legs of the race start on campus, continuing on Victoria Street toward the Dominguez Technology Center business park before returning to campus. The swim will take place in the university pool.

The CrossFit 5150 Triathlon involves three different CrossFit workouts in addition to the 5K run, 15 mile bike ride and 150 meter swim.

The Inaugural Toro Run/Walk 5K gives an opportunity for individuals to participate in a fun race geared for all level of runners or walkers. As an added incentive, $10 from each TORO 5K entry will go directly to benefit CSUDH’s Intermural Sports program.

Competition Cost Breakdown

Reverse Sprint Triathlon: $85

Triathlon Relay (2-3 members): $155
