“We are so pleased to present dynamic works of art by alumni artists who live and work in the South Bay/Los Angeles area,” said gallery director Kathy Zimmerer. “Long after graduation, our alumni artists continue to create art, maintain studios, and exhibit. We are very proud of their work in the art community as K-12 teachers, gallery curators, professors, artists, art historians and arts managers.”
Highlighting the alumni exhibit will be the glowing ceramic plates and photos of the hands of artists and musicians by Geoff Guerrero (Class of 1977); the dynamic towers of balancing ceramic pots by Janice Lloyd Govaerts (’91); the delicate ceramic and wood biomorphic structures by Kellan King (’12); vibrant ceramics by Luis Avalos (’12); the intricate anthropomorphic pen and ink drawings and ceramics by Michael Paieda (’81); luminous collages on a deck of cards created by Class of ’77 alumnus Joe Edward Grant; and the strong mixed media drawings and collages feature monumental African American portraits by Class of ’87 alumnus Eric Myles.
The exhibit will also include pieces from alumni artists Charles Accardi (’86), Nestor Alas (’10), Victoria Almeida (’92), Frances Atkins (’05), Jonathan Blackwell (’12), Paul Carmichael (’76), Coby Cerna (’12), Kevin Daly (’09), LaTonja Davis (’88), Michael Gonzalez (’06), Matt Jackson (’93), Charles Logan (’06), Salvador Magdaleno (’04), Jose Pina (’09), Gary Rose (’78), Nora Tomlinson (’79), Leticia Villa (’87), and H.K. Zamani (’86).
