San Pedro has it's own little piece of the Occupy movement,  the group Occupy San Pedro.  They have already held three demonstrations at local banks.  First, Wells Fargo, followed by Bank of America on Pacific Ave. and finally, Chase.  There's no doubt that San Pedro residents are being hit hard by the financial crisis.  The number of foreclosures is a clear indication of that.  Since it is a San Pedro group, made up of locals, there is an interest in helping those who are struggling in our community.  Foreclosures are one of the focal points.

Anyone who is struggling with foreclosure or who has gone through it already and want to get involved is urged to contact the group.  A community potluck dinner and fundraiser is scheduled for this Saturday, December 10 at the Bartlett Center from 5-8 pm.  If you are curious or want to meet people this is a good opportunity.  The dinner is open to the community. Live entertainment is planned.  The Bartlett Center is on 11th and Beacon Streets in San Pedro.  For info call 310-831-2397.  The group's email is ocuppysanpedro@gmail.com
