2013 All-News Pilot Prep Softball First Team (Part One)

Kelsea Short, Port Of Los Angeles, junior, SS: Despite missing eight games, Short still shined with an amazing .422 batting average, six home runs and 36 RBIs. The All-City Division 3 first team pick was dazzling defensively as well for the Polar Bears, turning a sparkling double play against King of Riverside in the TNT Tournament. Short has played on all three CIF-LACS Division 3 championship teams at POLA.

Cassie Demers, Mary Star, senior, 3B: The All-Camino Real League pick was an instrumental force in powering the Stars to their first CIF-Southern Section final appearance in school history, hitting a dramatic three-run home run in the quarterfinal victory over top-seeded Pomona Catholic in the Division 6 quarterfinals. Demers is also a very sharp defensive third baseman for Mary Star.

Rikki Legaspi-Valdez, Mary Star, senior, 2B: The All-Camino Real League pick was the table-setter in many ways for the Stars, and was solid defensively as well. Offensively, she led the team in runs scored. Legaspi-Valdez graduates with three Camino Real League titles and a CIF-Southern Section runner-up campaign.

Angelina Boskovich, San Pedro, junior, SS: The three-year veteran made All-Marine League and All-City first team for the Pirates, hitting .396 with a homer and 22 RBIs. Boskovich, who had 57 assists and 39 putouts defensively, also led the team with 8 doubles and 4 triples. San Pedro reached the CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division I semifinals, and the play of Boskovich was one major reason why.

Savana Ramirez, Port Of Los Angeles, sophomore, C/INF/OF: The West Torrance transfer made an immediate impact in her first year at POLA, breaking the school's single-season record with 47 hits. Ramirez hit .443 with 2 homers and 36 RBIs, going 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs in the CIF-LACS Division 3 final win over Northridge Academy. Ramirez started at catcher, third base, shortstop and right field this season for the Polar Bears.
