Ever since the 1999-2000 season began, all the San Pedro High JV girls soccer team has done against the Marine League has been nothing but pure dominance.
Regardless of how teams have improved... the Pirates have always found ways to win.
The 2012-2013 team was able to win their 14th consecutive Marine League championship after this past Friday's 4-0 win at Banning of Wilmington. Jenny Rivera, Lauren Antonelos, Briana Bacich and Alicia Moreno scored the goals. Head coach Elisa Nagle and assistant coach Crystal Valdes have been in charge of the team for the past five years, but Nagle has been there from the beginning.
Since 2000, San Pedro has posted a staggering Marine League record of 138 wins, no losses, and two draws.
This year's team finished 16-4-1 overall, placing third in their own Pirate Cup JV Tournament earlier in the year, which included a dramatic penalty kick victory over Taft Of Woodland Hills, and a last-second 1-0 victory over league rival Narbonne of Harbor City, whom the Pirates beat three times this season.
Rivera, Antonelos, Bacich, Moreno, Rianni Gonzalez and Julie Grassian were some of the top goal scorers during the JV Pirates' latest 10-0 Marine League run. Strong defense was played by the likes of Violet Tipich, Macy Miller and Cera Villegas. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Hadlelly was also staunch in protecting the net.
Tipich and Bronwyn Bunnell are also members of San Pedro's CIF-Los Angeles City Section championship girls cross-country team. Sophia Cartusciello, Francesca Infantozzi, Barbara Lemoh, Kira Mardesich, and Jesse Vasquez round out the rest of this amazing team who's closest margin of victory in the Marine League was a 2-1 victory at Narbonne on February 1.
Congratulations to the San Pedro High JV girls soccer team for another amazing season.
