Kuzma Domancich got emotional and simply said "Its beautiful," when the new sign under the scoreboard at Pirate Stadium was unveiled with his brothers name on it. "Sam Domancich Track"
Domancich, who died in January, was instrumental in getting the all weather track financed and added to the new stadium.
On Saturday, 150 friends and members of the community including granddaughters Haley, Holly and Hanna were on hand for a ceremony naming the track after Domancich.
"Would he want the likes of Stan Kenton or Tommy Dorsey band to play at this particular ceremony. Absolutely not, he wanted the San Pedro High School marching band. Would he want the singing of the big hit from way back Beseme a Mucho or would he want Hit the LIne? Would he like the Rockettes dancing and parading out here in their uniforms. No, he wanted the San Pedro cheerleaders," said friend Joe Marino, Master of Ceremonies.
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn and former councilman Rudy Svorinich were also present at the ceremony.
