San Pedro's Allison Kittell Signs With Utah State University Eastern

San Pedro High girls volleyball 6'1'' outside hitter Allison Kittell, who recently graduated in June, has become the ninth Class Of 2015 graduate in San Pedro Prep Sports to sign a letter of intent to play at the next level.

Kittell signed with the Golden Eagles program on Wednesday.

"I really wanted to be able to get a good education and go to a school that was close to family," said Kittell, who starred at South Vigo High School in Terre Haute, Indiana her first three seasons of high school girls volleyball. "At USU Eastern, I get both."

Kittell, the 2014 San Pedro News Pilot Prep Girls Volleyball Co-Player Of The Year & All-Marine League first team selection, has made her choice to play collegiate women's volleyball at Utah State University Eastern in Price, Utah. In one season with the Pirates, Kittell made immediate strides and solidified the middle portion of the net after she and her family moved to San Pedro for her senior season.

Leading the Pirates (13-12 overall in 2014) in kills and blocks, while finishing fifth on the team in service aces, Kittell helped San Pedro go 8-4 in the Marine League, also breaking a five-year losing streak to rival Narbonne of Harbor City with an emphatic three-game sweep of the Gauchos on October 13, 2014 at San Pedro High. Kittell had 10 kills in the victory and labels that match has her most memorable moment as a Pirate.

"After we won that match against Narbonne and everyone rushed the court, it just made me realize how much of a family we all are and how much I'm going to miss that atmosphere when I leave," Kittell said.

This is the unprecedented ninth signing day for a San Pedro Prep Sports student athlete, as Kittell joins Mary Star's Marina Vitalich (softball, George Mason), the Port Of Los Angeles High duo of Nicolle Miranda (softball, Eastern Michigan) and Savana Ramirez (softballl, Yavapai/Arizona),and the San Pedro quintet of Dominic O'Brien (football, Southern Utah), Luis Lona (football, Baldwin Wallace/Ohio), Louie Canjura (baseball, Sacred Heart/Conneticut), Danielle Nunez (cross-country, Loyola Marymount) and Johnie Cortez (softball, Marymount California).
