San Pedro's Antonio Frazier Jr. Signs With Northern State

First signing day ceremony of 2015-2016 in the San Pedro Prep Sports world has happened.

On Thursday, San Pedro High football senior WR/DB Antonio 'A.J.' Frazier Jr., the 2015 San Pedro News Pilot Prep Football Player Of The Year, hosted an official signing day ceremony as he signed a national letter of intent to play at Northern State University, a Division II school in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

One of the better all-around players in recent memory, Frazier Jr. accounted for 1,049 all-purpose yards, registering 99 tackles and scoring touchdowns in four different ways (2 rushing, 2 punt returns, receiving, interception return), while also breaking up six passes. His 89-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 35-7 win over Carson on October 30, 2015 was his only interception of the season, but it certainly came at one of the more crucial moments of the year.

In his three years at San Pedro, Frazier Jr. scored 11 touchdowns (3 punt returns, 5 rushing, 2 receiving, INT), was named to the All-Marine League first team his sophomore year, while being named the league's Defensive MVP in both his junior and senior seasons, also making the All-CIF Los Angeles City Section first team defense every year for San Pedro.

Frazier Jr. helped the Pirates go 26-11 during that span, including a Marine League title his junior season and a CIF-LACS Division I semifinal appearance in 2014, a game he wasn't able to play in due to suffering an injury the week before.

While preparing for Northern State, Frazier Jr. will get to be coached by the Wolves' defensive backs coach, and a Pirate alumni, Matt Racowschi who was a member of two Marine League championship teams at San Pedro in 2005 and 2006, the latter of which made it to the CIF-LACS Division I championship game. Northern State went 6-5 last season.
