WILMINGTON - It took a combination of taking care of their own business with help from another school, but San Pedro High girls soccer can once again sit atop their throne as Marine League champions.
The visiting Pirates would notch two second-half goals to pull away from Banning of Wilmington, 3-0 to claim their 13th league title in 14 seasons, and it would end up being an outright crown thanks to a stunning 1-1 tie from the Carson-Narbonne of Harbor City game that knocked the Gauchos, who tied San Pedro twice, into second place by a game.
Kirsten Bauman, Dana Cameron and Gabriella Ma all scored for San Pedro (11-7-3 overall, 8-0-2 league), who got four saves by freshman goalie Taylor Miller for the shutout.
The Pirates will await their playoff fate in the CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division I playoff pairings later today.
