WILMINGTON - Even in the rain and hail, the Port Of Los Angeles High girls soccer team still posted another dominant victory to clinch a third straight Crosstown League championship.
Behind two goals from Ariella Martinez and a strong well-balanced performance from Tiffany Torres, the Polar Bears would cruise to an 8-0 win over host Harbor Teacher Prep of Wilmington at Harbor College to finish the 2012-2013 season on a high note. Torres scored off a Bonilla corner kick and assisted on four other goals for POLA (15-5-1 overall, 8-0 league).
Along with Martinez and Torres, the other goals from the Polar Bears on this day came from Alyssa Bristol, Melissa Rodriguez, Samantha Walker, Cesilia Hernandez and Isabela Van Antwerp.
POLA is expected to receive a high seed in the CIF-Los Angeles City Section Small Schools Division playoff pairings which will be announced later today.
