The San Pedro High girls soccer team takes down another challenge in the Marine League.
After another 1-1 tie with rival Narbonne of Harbor City this past Monday, all the Pirates need to do is win out for their eighth straight league title, and their 6-0 victory over visiting Washington Prep of Los Angeles was a good way to start with three games left in the regular season.
Freshman forward Ashley Lopez paced the Pirates (8-7-3 overall, 5-0-2 league) with a hat trick, the first of her career, while senior forward Joanna Perone scored her 12th goal of the season. Senior midfielder Analisa Ma also scored for the Pirates, who got a bonus own goal from the Generals (1-6 league) in the second half. Freshman goalie Taylor Miller didn't face a shot on goal the entire day for the shutout.
San Pedro will host Gardena on Friday in their next Marine League encounter.
