OB/GYN Joins Providence Medical Institute’s San Pedro Practice

Providence Medical Institute’s OB/GYN practice in San Pedro has welcomed obstetrician and gynecologist Michelle Barhaghi, M.D., FACOG, to the long-standing team that has provided care to generations of women for more than 40 years.

In addition to being board-certified, Dr. Barhaghi is an accomplished Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing her talents in obstetrics as well as offering minimally invasive techniques and managing disorders such as infertility, menstrual abnormalities, perimenopause/menopausal symptoms and general health maintenance.

“Providence Medical Institute strives to provide excellent, compassionate care to our patients, and Dr. Barhaghi is a stellar example of the mission and core values that is the legacy of the founding Sisters of Providence,” said Susan Secker, director of mission leadership for Providence Medical Foundations. “Her concern for women’s health coupled with the depth of clinical expertise she brings to her practice is a welcome asset to the San Pedro community.”

Dr. Barhaghi received her medical degree in from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her residency at Tulane University. After completing her schooling, she enhanced her medical training with international work in New Zealand and South Africa.

A Denver native, Dr. Barhaghi loves the field of obstetrics, especially enjoying the opportunity to guide women through their pregnancy journeys. It was during her medical studies at Mount Sinai that she developed her interest in obstetrics and gynecology while working directly with inner city residents of Manhattan and the South Bronx. Outside of the practice, she spends time volunteering for Doctors Without Borders. Dr. Barhaghi resides in the South Bay.
