Electronic Waste Recycling Event and Nautical Books & Treasures Sale, Oct. 1, 2011

The LA Maritime Institute is holding an Electronic Waste Recycling Event with a Nautical Books & Treasures Sale from 9am-1pm on Saturday, October 1.  Those who contribute e-waste or come to the sale are invited to an open house on our tall ships afterwards!

Drop off electronic waste and buy nautical books, posters, art, woodturnings, other treasures and office furnishings at the LAMI office-parking lot at the foot of 6^th St., between the Maritime Museum and the 5^th St. Fireboat House, San Pedro.  Thanks to Environmental Conversion Recycling (ECR), here’s a safe way to dispose of e-waste like TV’s, monitors, cell phones, computers, cables, printers, ink cartridges, cameras, speakers, modems, car batteries, radios, modems and more...bicycles, fences, scrap metal, car motors, etc.  For a complete listing with recycling forms for monitors and TV’s, see www.LAMItopsail.org.

Along with bringing E-waste and buying treasures at the LAMI office, there’s an “All Hands on Deck” reunion for friends, former TopSailors and LAMI volunteers, from 10am-2pm, on the tall ships Irving Johnson and Exy Johnson dockside at Berth 78, Ports O’ Call Village, San Pedro.

LAMI is clearing the way for the new Downtown Harbor, finding treasures and sorting things to sell, with plans to move into new offices over Utro’s in November.  Proceeds will support the TopSail Youth Program on the “Official Tall Ships and Maritime Ambassadors of the City of Los Angeles.”
