Event Description

 Oct. 1st – Tours Across L.A.’s Neighborhoods

 

Free Citywide Event Shows Off Culturally Dynamic Neighborhoods Through Local Guides, Culminates in 6-9pm Festival in Atwater Crossing

 

WHAT:     Found L.A. organized tours provided by residents, public figures and renowned artists, who volunteer to share their unique perspective and passion for their neighborhood.

Participants will experience an after-hours "sneak peak" into the local bakery, see inside an artist's studio, or explore a hidden alley garden.  Participants may sign up for more than one tour.

 

       San Pedro: Taran Schindler of Grand Vision Fdn/Warner Theatre (12:30-4:00pm)

 

The day will culminate with a post-tour celebration ($25.00) of Los Angeles' ingenuity through ethnically diverse food, music and art at Atwater Crossing from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Dwight Trible, Artichoke, Elson Trinidad and the Soul Barkada will perform.

 

Atwater Village: Councilman Eric Garcetti (4:00-5:00pm)

       East Hollywood: community leader Elson Trinidad (11:00am-2:00pm)                 

       EcoVillage: Lara Morrison (1:00-3:30pm)

       Highland Park: musician Timothy Sellers (1:00-3:00pm)

       Inglewood: youth & staff from Chuco's Justice Center (10:00am-12:00pm)

       Koreatown: journalist and food blogger Namju Cho (9:00am-12:00pm) 

       Leimert Park: artist Karen Collins and photographer Feliz McInnis (2:00-4:00pm)

       Little Tehran: local resident Liane Schirmer (3:00-5:00pm)

       McArthur Park:  community leader Oscar Dominguez (3:00-5:00pm)

       St. Elmo's Village: Roderick Sykes (3:30-5:30pm)

       Santa Monica "Green Light District": business owner Frank Angiuli (10:30-11:30am)

       West Hollywood: Andrew Campbell, Cultural Affairs Administrator (3:00-5:00pm)

 

         Found L.A. is a keystone event in raising the awareness of L.A. Commons’ goal to connect communities across the L.A. landscap.

          Found L.A. is supported by the California Arts Council and The Boeing Company.

 

L.A. Commons, a project of Community Partners, works in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles, facilitating artistic processes, open to all, that result in highly visible public art projects that tell dynamic neighborhood stories.
