Anne Elizabeth Carr, 95, SPHS class of 1937

Anne Elizabeth Carr, 95, recently of Gardiner, Oregon, previously of California, passed away at the home

of her daughter and surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 17, 2013.

Visitation and viewing will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. At Forest Lawn

Mortuary, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina in the Willow Room. Graveside Services and Vault Interment

will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina, California.

Pam Vetter, celebrant will be officiating. Military Honors under the auspices of the US Army Funeral Honors Team.

Anne Elizabeth (Ware) Carr was born September 30, 1917 in El Paso, Texas to Joseph Henry and

Antonette (Ridgley) Ware. She was raised and educated in Texas having graduated from San Pedro High

School in January of 1937. She attended Throne Business College in 1947 then on to Edgewood Beauty

College in 1959. She joined the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps in 1942 where she served overseas from

Aug. 1944 to Nov. 1945 during the Rhineland Ardennes Campaign in Central Europe.

Anne was united in marriage to Melvin LeRoy Carr Sr. on May 12, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. They

were married forty-six years when he preceded her in death in 1992. Together they raised two children.

She was a busy wife, mother and homemaker. Anne also worked for the US Postal Service from 1960 to

1983, retiring with twenty-three years of civil service. Among her personal interests she loved to play

softball and volleyball. Anne enjoyed working on genealogy and she could play the mandolin. She was a

member of the VFW and DAR.

Anne spent the most recent twenty years enjoying good health and living with her daughter on the

coast. She had made many new friends. Her life was an example of love and hard work. She will be

missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Patricia and Santino Spadaro of Gardiner, Or, her son

and daughter in law, Melvin L. Carr Jr. and wife Paula, of Cameron Park, Ca, as well as numerous

grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Local Services entrusted to Dunes Memorial Chapel, 541-271-2822, Services in California under the

direction of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina, Ca.
