Neighborhood Watch WORKS! Possible home theft thwarted

Recently, we had an "exciting" afternoon in South Shores, and I want to share information we received regarding this event from our SLO Officer Wight:

"I just wanted to give you all a quick update.  During the day on 06/06/2012 a group of four male Hispanics were seen distributing flyers in South Shores.  And because our Neighborhood Watchers are attentive and proactive, a number of you called it in.  The information that I received is a number of Officers responded to the area, causing the four males to scatter.  Any time people run from the police you can be pretty sure that they were up to no good.  We have a pretty good idea who one of the individuals is and we are actively looking for him.  I had to come in late that day so I missed most of the excitement.  But I want you all to know that the first thing one of the patrol Sergeants said to me when I walked in the Station was "Your South Shores folks did really well", then he proceeded to give me the update.  This is the kind of response that the Neighborhood Watch is built around.  I have no doubt that those four males thought they were going take advantage of some South Shores resident.  But you folks showed them that that won't fly in South Shores.  Now they know without a doubt that the Neighborhood is watching for them and won't tolerate them traipsing through S.S.  You folks should be really proud of yourselves because you took the responsibility into your own hands and kept your neighborhood safe.  Like I always say we don't know to come if you don't call us; you called, we came, and a Burglary was potentially thwarted.  The only descriptors that we have for now on the group is four male Hispanics.  One of the individuals is a male Hispanic in his late twenties with "HA" tattooed on his right cheek.  Of course if anyone matching this description or who looks or acts at all suspicious should turn up in the neighborhood again, please call for police response.  And of course should any additional information become available I will pass it along.

Again, I couldn't be more thrilled with the success of our Neighborhood Watch.  Pat yourselves on the back for me, cause you folks ROCK!
